TASMANIAN APPALOOSA CLUB

We are the only Appaloosa club currently AAA affiliated in Tasmania. We strive to promote our breed in all areas, whether it be hacking,
dressage, western events, halter or just as a great looking family horse.
Our horses can have a varied coat pattern: these include , blanket with
spots, snowcap blanket, roans leopards, lace blankets, they can also be a
solid colour offspring of an Appaloosa parent. An appaloosa must be 14 hh at 5 yrs of age, be balanced, smooth and
symmetrical, with the head, neck, forequarters, barrel and hindquarters in
proportion to blend smoothly together for overall balance and grace.
The Appaloosa horse can have four identifiable characteristics, coat
pattern, mottled skin, white sclera around the eye, they also can exhibit
striped hooves, appaloosas are the only breed to exhibit these clearly
defined, vertical light and dark hooves on legs that do not have white
markings.
Our Tasmanian Appaloosa Championships are
held in February, - details of entry will be posted on the calendar. This is the biggest
gathering of Appaloosas from all over the state; we have a mainland judge
who officiates over halter and performance events.
