In 1978 the Southern Tasmanian
Quarter Horse Association Inc. was formed by a small group of people
with a common interest in becoming part of the growing phenomenon of
the Australian Quarter Horse.
From these small beginnings the
club has grown to be active in all aspects of horse ownership – from
the training and encouragement of beginners to the polishing of some
of Tasmania’s top Western riders. As an Affiliate of the
Australian Quarter
Horse Association the club is able to access the expertise of
many instructors and judges of vast experience to ensure continued
improvement.

FACILITIES
The STQHA has
permanent grounds leased from the Brighton Council at
Pontville
Park. We have a safe enclosed arena that is used for shows and
training and yards for security of horses. At present there are
three small huts for canteen and administrative uses.
MEMBERSHIP
Membership of the club is open to every
member of the public, and while ownership of a Quarter Horse is not
a pre-requisite we hope, by demonstration of the fine qualities of
this breed, to encourage non owners to consider the Quarter Horse
when purchasing a new horse. The membership year runs from August
1st to July 31st.
MEETINGS
Club Meetings are held every month at the
Bridgewater High School Farm , Brighton.
HIGH POINT AWARDS
The club runs a Hi Point system each season,
concluding the Season with an Annual Presentation Dinner. If you
wish to nominate you and your horse please contact the club for a
Nomination form.
